The Madrigal Ensemble is a singing ensemble which concentrates on music from the Medieval Era through the 18th century.  The concert this Fall, on December 3rd at Noon in the Mallery Room is a required activity.  We will be performing wonderful music from 17th century Germany by Buxtehude and Tunder and collaborating with Rutgers’s Performance Ensemble’s String Program for the concert.  Admission is by audition.  Both trained and amateur singers are welcome to apply.  The course meets for 3 hours weekly.   Madrigals is a three credit course.

Madrigal Ensemble develops the following skills: singing in tune, sight-reading, and singing in various foreign languages (French, German, Italian, Medieval English, Spanish to mention a few). Students in the ensemble who are chosen for solo or smaller ensemble pieces will receive external private coaching from Dr. Baird in that music.  There is no formal examination.  Grades are determined by the successful mastery of assigned music for the concerts.  Attendance and punctuality for all class sessions are also grading factors.

To register for this ensemble, please contact Dr. Baird at 856-225-6210 or jbaird@camden.rutgers.edu
