The Madrigal Ensemble 2008
meets
Mondays (W), 1:20pm - 2:40pm
in the
Fine Arts Building, Room 215

Office hours: by appointment (FA 211)

The Madrigal Ensemble is a singing ensemble which concentrates on music from the Medieval Era through the 18th century.  Admission is by audition.  Both trained and amateur singers are welcome to apply.  The course meets for 3 hours weekly.  This semester, due to a typo in the Master Schedule the course is listed for Mondays 1:20-2:40.   Because it is a 3 credit course, we will need to extend the rehearsal hours (hopefully) on Monday to 3:20 of find times for extra rehearsals during the semester.

Madrigal Ensemble develops the following skills: singing in tune, sight-reading, and singing in various foreign languages (French, German, Italian, medieval English, Spanish to mention a few). Students in the ensemble who are approved for solo or smaller ensemble pieces will receive external private coaching from Dr. Baird in that music.  There is no formal examination.  Grades are determined by the successful mastery of assigned music for the concerts  (Concert date is April 30, 2008 @ 12 noon in the Mallory Room of the Fine Arts Building. Attendance and punctuality for all class sessions are also grading factors.

To register for this ensemble, please contact Dr. Baird at 856-225-6210 or jbaird@camden.rutgers.edu
