Dr. Julianne Baird has continued to conduct summer workshops at both the Eastman School of Music and the Amherst Early Music Festival. The latter program, the largest summer early music program in the world, has invited Dr. Baird back for more than 20 years. Amid a faculty of over 50 internationally ranked professionals, Dr. Baird is one of the 6 internationally recognized musicians who form a separate faculty directing the "Baroque Academy," which serves the most advanced students in the Amherst Program.

In fact, one student traveled from her home in Australia just to study with Julianne Baird at the Amherst Early Music Festival. "I have read your book and listened to a great many of your recordings. I would be interested in coming to the USA if you would be interested in teaching me." Miriam Allen.

During her participation in the Amherst Early Music Festival held in summer 1999, Dr. Baird was interviewed and observed by a journalist-musician for an upcoming feature article. Here are excerpts from her article: " . . . her masterclasses are always packed with instrumentalists as well as singers, all awaiting the secrets of singing fast notes, improvising cadenzas . . . Baird has become a touchstone for many up-and-coming singers, especially sopranos, and she has many imitators. . .

Baird's patience and sense of humor, coupled with a quick musical intelligence, keep masterclass audiences engaged and the students on their toes. It is easy to understand why students flock to her . . .
